マタイによる福音書（UBD）

MATTHEW（mathu;主の賜物）アルファヨと呼ばれるある人物の息子。レビと呼ばれた（Mark2:14;Luke5:27）



彼の居住地

マタイの住居はカペルナウムにあった。そして、彼は、「徴税請負人」であった。当時、ゲネサレ湖の沿岸には非常に多くの人々が住んでおり、漁業が生計の源であり、またその湖面は海上交通で混雑していた。マタイが徴税請負人をしていたカペルナウムの税関はローマ帝国によって確立された。本来の徴税請負人たちはローマ人の金持ちたちであったが、彼らは居住民を配当人（portitors）と呼ばれる人々を代理人にして職務を代行させた。マタイはこのような人々に属する。

マタイの召し

マタイについては、次のように記述されている。「取税所に座っていた」彼に、イエスが「私に従ってきなさい」と言われた。多分、彼はあらかじめイエスを知っていた。なぜなら、彼は、「すぐに立ち上がって」彼に従って行った、とあるからである。（Matt.9.9;Mark2:14;Luke5:27-28）

この後まもなくマタイは「自分の家で彼のために盛大に宴会を催した」（Luke5:29;Matt.9:10;Mark2:15）そして、それは彼の昔ながらの仲間たちに別れを告げるためであった。なぜなら、「多くの徴税請負人たちや、罪びとたちが来て晩餐の席についていた」とある。（Matt.9:10）

この後のことについては、我々は使徒の名簿（Luke6:15）と、主が昇天された後、エルサレムの２階にいた（Acts1:13）でのこと以外には、彼についての記述を見ることがない。

古代からの証によれば、彼の名に負うところのこの福音書はこの使徒によって書かれたのである。伝説によれば、マタイは主の昇天の後、１２年から１５年間ユダヤで福音を宣教した後、他の国々に行ったのである。

福音の意味は、「良きおとずれ」、又は、「喜ばしい知らせ」である。それは一般的にこのメッセージそれ自体を示している。しかし、ここでは、このメッセージを含む記録についての書として用いられている。

新約聖書の著者の称号として用いられている「聖徒」という言葉は、ローマ・カトリックに由来するが、何の権威もない。

一般的には、マタイは最初彼の母語である、パレスティナの言語で書いたということが、かなり信じられている。その言語は純粋のへブル語ではなく、へブル語と、カルディア語と、シリア語との混成言語であり、普通、「Syro-Chaldaic」または、「Aramean」

と呼ばれるものである。私たちの救い主は、疑いなくこの言語を会話にお使いになっていた。そして、彼の弟子たちもまた、この言語を自然に使い、他の言語を用いて書くのに良い理由がなければならない場合を除いて、この言語を用いていたのである。

新約聖書で残存しているものはギリシャ語のものであることは、承認されている。

マタイ福音書

序章      メシアなるイエス（HBH）

マタイが特に強調する点は、イエスが旧約の預言者たちによってあらかじめ語られたメシアであるということである。マタイは繰り返し繰り返し旧約聖書から引用する。ユダヤ人読者を特に意識していたからであろう。この福音書は「天の御国」という言葉を非常に多く繰り返しているので、天国の福音とまで呼ばれている。全部とは言えないが、年代順よりもむしろ題目順に主な事件が集められている。イエスの説教、特に「山上の説教」「再臨と終末の教え」はすべて収録されている。

マタイ

この福音書に著者の名は出ていない。しかしパピアス（使徒ヨハネの弟子）に始まる初代教父の時代以来、使徒マタイの作と認められている。

マタイについてはほとんど何もわからない。彼はレビとも呼ばれた。十二使徒の名があげられている４つの記録は、どれも彼の名を記している。（マタイ10:3,マルコ3:18,ルカ6:15、使徒1:13）その他には彼がイエスの召命を受けた時の記事があるだけである。

マタイが自分について語っている唯一の言葉は、恥を意味する「取税人」という言葉であった。取税人はローマの税金徴収者であるが、多くは搾取を常習としていたので、一般の人々から軽蔑されていた。ルカの福音書には、マタイがイエスのために宴会を催し、イエスに従うために一切を捨てたとある。しかし、マタイはそれを自力でしたとは思っていない。彼は英雄に対する崇敬の念から我を忘れたのである。この我を忘れた謙遜さのゆえに、我々は彼を愛するのである。

また、このような人を「全世界で最も広く読まれた本」だというこの福音書の著者として選ばれた神の恵みに驚嘆する。

伝承ではマタイは幾年かをパレスティナで宣教し、その後諸外国を旅行した。彼はその福音書を最初はヘブル語で書き、幾年か後に、多分60年頃、さらに完全なギリシャ語の福音書として世に出したという。しかし本書を記した事の人類に与えた貢献はいかに大きかった事か。

マタイは取税人という職業で記録を取る事に慣れていたし、イエスの公生涯の間、個人的な接触があった。マタイがマルコの福音書から取材したという、広く行き渡った確証のない仮定は、明らかに馬鹿げた説である。マルコがイエスを知っていたかどうかは、確かではない。マタイはなぜ自分の目で見たり、自分の耳で聞いたりしたことを、目撃者でもない者の記録から取材しなければならないのか。

１章

1.　ダビデの子、アブラハムの子である、イエス・キリストの系図の書。
2.　 アブラハムは、イサクを生み、イサクはヤコブを生み、ヤコブはユダと、彼の兄弟たちとを生んだ。
3.　そして、ユダはサマルによってファレスとザラとを生み、ファレスはエスロムを生み、エスロムはアラムを生んだ。
4.　そして、アラムはアミナダブを生み、アミナダブはナアソンを生み、ナアソンはサルモーンを生んだ。

Christ Born of Mary
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 
20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His nameJesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 
23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
24 Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife, 
25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name Jesus.

1.　さて、王ヘロデの在位中にイエスがユダヤのベスレヘムで誕生されていたが、見よ、マジ[1]たちが東方からエルサレムに着いた。
2.　そして、こう言った、「ユダヤの王として誕生されたお方は、どこにおられますか？　私どもはその方の星を東（の地）で見ました。それで、彼を礼拝しに来たのです。」
3.　しかし、ヘロデ王は聞いて困惑させられた。又、彼と共にいるすべてのエルサレム[の人々]もそうであった。
4.　そこで、祭司長たちと民の法学者たちが皆集められると、彼はその者たちに、キリストはどこに生まれる事になっているかと尋ねた。
5.　彼らは彼に言った、「ユダヤのベスレヘムです。預言者によってこのように書かれてありますから。

12 Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.
The Flight into Egypt
13 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”
14 When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt, 
15 and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”
Massacre of the Innocents
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men. 
17 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying:
18 “A voice was heard in Ramah,
Lamentation, weeping, and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children,
Refusing to be comforted,
Because they are no more.”
The Home in Nazareth
19 Now when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child’s life are dead.”
 21 Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee.23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, “He shall be called a Nazarene.”

マタイによる福音書第３章（欽定訳）

３章

1.　さて、その頃、バプテスマのヨハネが来て、ユダヤの荒野で宣教して
2.　こう言った。「悔い改めなさい。もろもろの天の王国が間近になったのだから。」
3.　それは、この人こそが預言者イザヤによって語られた人であったからである。こう仰せになっている、「荒野で声が叫んでいる。『主の道を整えよ。彼のもろもろの通り道を真っすぐにせよ』」と。
4.　 そして、ヨハネはラクダの毛皮を身にまとい、腰には皮の帯をしめていた。また、彼の食物はイナゴや野性の蜜であった。
5.　その時、エルサレム、ユダヤの全地、また、ヨルダンの周辺のすべての地方から［人々が］彼の所に出て来た。
6.　そして、彼らのもろもろの罪を告白して、ヨルダンで彼からバプテスマを受けた。
7.　しかし、多くのファリサイ派の人々やサドカイ派の人々が彼のバプテスマを受けに来るのを見て、彼は彼らに言った、「毒蛇の子孫らよ、だれが必ず起こる[1]恐ろしい御怒りから逃れるようにと、あなたがたに前もって警告したのですか。

12.　彼の手には煽ぎわける箕があって、ご自分の地を完全に清められる。そして、ご自分の麦を集めて倉に入れ、籾殻は消すことのできない火で焼き尽くされます。」
13.　その時、イエスはガリラヤからヨルダンのヨハネの所に、彼からバプテスマを受けるためにお出でになった。
14.　しかし、ヨハネはそれをさせようとさせないでこう言った。「私があなた様からバプテスマを受けるべきですのに、あなた様が私の所にお出でになるのですか。」
15.　すると、イエスは彼に答えて仰せになった。「今は受けさせなさい。このようにして、すべての義を行うのがわたしたちにふさわしいからだ。」そこで、彼は彼に施した。
16.　さて、イエスはバプテスマを受けるとすぐにその水からお上がりになった。すると、見よ、もろもろの天が彼に対して開かれた。そして、彼は天の神の霊が鳩のように下り、彼の上にお出でになるのをごらんになった。

11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 
12 His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 
14 And John tried toprevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”
15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.
16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

４章

6.　彼に言った、「あなたが天の神の息子であるなら、あなた自身を下に投げなさい。『あなたについて彼は彼の使いたちに指図される。[2]』すると、『彼らはその両手をもってあなたを支え、あなたの足が石に激しくあたる事のないようにする。』と書いてありますから。」
7.　イエスは彼に仰せになった、「『主なるあなたの天の神を試みてはならない。』とも書いてある。」
8.　ディアボロスは再び彼を非常に高い山に連れて行き、彼に、この世界のすべての王国と栄耀栄華とを見せた。
9.　そして、彼に言った、「もし、あなたが跪いて私を拝むなら、これらのものを全部あなたにさしあげましょう。」
10.　その時イエスは彼に仰せになった。「去れ、サタン！こう書いてある。『あなたは主である天の神を礼拝し、そして、彼にのみ仕えよ』と。」
11.　すると、ディアボロスは彼から離れて行った。そして、見よ、使いたちがそば近くに来て彼に仕えた。
12.　さて、イエスはヨハネが捕らえられたと聞いて、彼はガリラヤへと発たれた。
13.　そして、ナザレを離れ、ザブローンとナフサリの境にある海沿いのカペナウムに来て彼は住まわれた。
14.　それは預言者イザヤによって語られた事が成就するためであった。こう仰せになっている、
15.　「ザブローンの地、ナフサリの地、ヨルダンの向こうの海沿いの道にある諸国民のガリラヤ、
16.　暗黒の中に座している人々は偉大な光を見た。又、死の地方と死の影の中に居る者たちに光が昇った。」
17.　その時から、イエスは宣教を開始して仰せになった、「悔い改めなさい、もろもろの天の王国[3]が間近になったからだ。」
18.　また、イエスがガリラヤ湖岸を歩いていると、彼は二人の兄弟たち、ペテロと呼ばれるシモーンと彼の兄弟アンドレが、大きな網を海に投げているのをご覧になった。彼らは漁師だったからである。
19.　そして、彼らに仰せになった、「私について来なさい。そうすれば、私はおまえたちを人間の漁師にしてあげよう。」
20.　すると、彼らは直ちにそれらの網を残して彼についていった。
21.　又、少し行くと、彼は他に二人の兄弟たち、ゼベダイの息子ヤコブと彼の兄弟のヨハネとが、舟の中で彼らの父ゼベダイと共に彼らの網共を直しているのをごらんになった。彼は彼らをお呼びになった。
22.　すると、彼らは直ちに舟と彼らの父とを置いて、彼についていった。
23.　さて、イエスはガリラヤ中を行き巡り、彼らのスナゴーグで教え、王国の福音を布告された。そして、彼らの中のすべての病人とすべての体の弱っている者をお癒しになった。
24.　そこで、彼の名声はスリア全土に広がった。そして、彼らは病気の人々、様々な病気や苦痛で悩んでいる人々、ダイモニオン共に取りつかれている人々、精神障害を負っている人々、身体不随の人々を皆連れて来たが、彼は彼らをお癒しになった。
25.　そして、ガリラヤ、デカポリス、また、エルサレム、ユダヤと、ヨルダンの向こうから非常に多くの群衆が彼の後を追った。

Satan Tempts Jesus
4 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 
2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 
6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’
and,
‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”
8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”
11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
Jesus Begins His Galilean Ministry
12 Now when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, He departed to Galilee. 13 And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:
15 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles:
16 The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light,
And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death
Light has dawned.”[f]
17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Four Fishermen Called as Disciples
18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 
19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
21 Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them,
 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
Jesus Heals a Great Multitude
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.
 24 Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. 
25 Great multitudes followed Him—from Galilee, and from Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.
